Our core business is safe navigation in Arctic and Antarctic regions, and within our company, we have pilots with extensive experience from Expedition Cruise ships, Icebreakers, Supply vessels and Cargo ships and they all have great experience from sailing in Greenland, Svalbard, North West Passage and Antarctica as Captains.
Since we are a local Greenlandic company we have a profound knowledge in Greenland, and within our vast network of local suppliers and stakeholders we can almost arrange any activity you may choose to give your vessel and guest the best possible experience when visiting our beautiful country.
In Greenland following legislation applies:
According to Order no. 1697 of 11.12.2015 – Order for Greenland on the safe navigation.
Section 11. Ships carrying more than 250 passengers shall, in connection with voyages in the inner and outer territorial waters around Greenland, take a pilot certified to perform pilotage assignments in the area concerned.
Section 7. Ships shall have at least one person available on board with the necessary local knowledge of the waters to be navigated. This person shall hold the qualifications that would entitle him to navigate the ship concerned or be trained to and have several years’ experience navigating ships of similar size.
We offer the following services, ensuring your vessel meets the requirements in Greenland:
- Licensed pilotage inside the territorial waters in Greenland according to section 11.
- Ice pilotage according to section 7.
According to IMO Polarcode:
Chapter 12 of the Polar Code on manning and training says that companies must ensure that masters, chief mates and officers in charge of a navigational watch on board ships operating in polar waters have completed appropriate training.
For all other Arctic and antArctic areas we offer icepilotage ensuring your vessel meets the requirements of the polarcode and all of our pilots hold Polarcode Advance Certificate.
